Seems like Reggie Fils-Aime must have taken a few moments respite from counting his money to actually turn on his (surely gold-plated) Wii and give it a go. Sadly, he must have realized all those downloadable Virtual Console and WiiWare games were inaccessable unless he sorted through a big pile of SD cards and started deleting other content, so he decided Nintendo needs to get to work on this "lack of storage" problem after all.
"We have said publicly that we’re looking hard at the storage situation, that we’re working on a range of solutions. We have nothing to announce now. But certainly it’s an issue we are aware of and we’re working to find a solution and we will.
"From an Americas-centric perspective, here is the reality we see. We have a consumer base who loves Virtual Console. We have a userbase who really is enjoying WiiWare content. So for us really our challenge really is how do we satisfy all these consumers who are loving all of the product we make available on a download basis?
"In our view this is becoming much more of a mainstream problem, which is why we have a sense of urgency to solve it."
What’s that, it’s a "mainstream" problem now and no longer relegated to merely "geeks and otaku?" Well that’s a relief, because for a moment there I thought all those soccer moms knew some kind of storage trick I didn’t, and that was going to be embarrassing.
Look Reggie, we all know that the solution to all your woes is an external hard drive, so let’s just cut to the chase and get one on the market, OK? I promise, if you just do that, then gamers will be a lot less irate about buying yet another peripheral than they are about deleting and reinstalling games over and over. And besides, you guys love to sell peripherals! This should be right down your alley!
